Apr 07, 2026
Threaded steel: On April 3rd, the average price of 20mm Grade III seismic resistant threaded steel in 31 major cities across the country was 3329 yuan/ton, unchanged from the previous trading day. In the short term, on the one hand, inventory continues to decrease this week, and costs still have some support; On the other hand, the current market demand recovery is not as expected, supply is gradually recovering, and the market lacks the driving force to raise prices.
Hot rolled coils: On April 3rd, the average price of 4.75mm hot rolled coils in 24 major cities across the country was 3319 yuan/ton, an increase of 1 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. On the supply side, as steel mill production increases, steel mill inventory decreases, social inventory decreases, and total inventory shows a decline. From the perspective of demand, the current recovery of downstream demand is average, and market transactions are not very good, indicating that there is still strong demand. Some traders have shown reluctance to sell, mainly due to recent reports of steel mills starting to reduce production. Follow up on demand side recovery and macro situation.
Cold rolled coils: On April 3rd, the average price of 1.0mm cold coils in 24 major cities across the country was 3820 yuan/ton, a decrease of 3 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. According to feedback from Northwest traders, the procurement pace of downstream manufacturing enterprises is still slow, mainly focusing on replenishing inventory for essential needs. Large scale transactions are relatively rare, and large transactions within the day are mostly maintained at the level of 20 to 30 tons. The overall market trading atmosphere is relatively weak. In terms of mentality, traders are generally cautious about short-term market expectations, believing that the recovery strength on the demand side is weak, coupled with loose support on the cost side, and the lack of sustained momentum for price increases. In terms of operation, they still focus on reducing inventory to avoid risks.
Medium thick plate: On April 3rd, the average price of 20mm ordinary plate in 24 major cities across the country was 3418 yuan/ton, an increase of 1 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. At present, the production of medium and large-sized plywood is relatively small, but prices and new resources have also increased significantly in various regions. From the perspective of the East China region, overall shipments are relatively average. There is a shortage of resources for medium and thick plates, resulting in significant price increases. Traders are reluctant to sell, and it is expected that the circulation of carbon plate resources will increase by the end of the month. Prices for general plates and low-alloy plates may continue to rise. Looking at the overall arrival situation, there are still many market resources, making it difficult for prices to rise.
